Financial Matters during the Covid-19 Pandemic - A message from the Treasurer

We greatly appreciate the generosity of many people to the Church, but we face a difficult year and I wanted to update you on the financial challenges we are facing.

The current lockdown situation means that our regular Hall Letting activity has been suspended, and together with the recent news of cancellation of the Edinburgh Festivals has significant implications for our financial situation.

The Church of Scotland has also asked us to continue to make our contribution to the central Church in order that the broader work in Scotland and across the world can continue to help those in need. Our own support to Malawi Mission Hospital and several Edinburgh Charities will also be affected as a result of lunch and coffee get-togethers no longer taking place.

Most of you will already know that our regular Hall Letting and Festival income are essential to supplementing income received through Church Giving and Gifting. Our investment income also makes a significant contribution and our ability to leverage this is made more difficult by the global financial situation.

For those not already making their giving through Standing Order, please consider that option which will undoubtedly help with our cash flow. I will be happy to send you the details you need for one-off donations, or to set up a Standing Order, please contact me by email at:

treasurer@stockbridgechurch.org.uk.

For those of you who do not use online banking we would also be glad to send the information, or receive any donations, by cheque through the post. You can contact me by post at:

Treasurer, Stockbridge Parish Church, 7B Saxe Coburg Street, Edinburgh EH3 5BN.

You can also help, if you are a UK taxpayer, by making your giving Gift Aided and the Treasurer can help provide the forms for setting that up.

Thank you and God bless you all.

Kerr McLaren, Church Treasurer
